TRANSITIONAL RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT - NARRATIVE
The Transitional Residential Treatment (TRT) Program is designed for clients
who are in need of a structured environment, which will assist them to
successfully transition into the community while participating in a low
intensity substance abuse treatment program.
The main focus of the program is for the client to obtain a support
system outside of treatment to maintain a sober and/or drug free
lifestyle. Additionally, the client will be encouraged to take
responsibility in developing a daily structured plan and utilizing
community resources in searching for employment, receiving health care,
mental health services, addressing legal issues, and finding a place to
live, etc.
Schedules are individualized and flexible as the needs of each client will
vary. Initially, clients will participate in the Pueblo WorkLink’s Work
Incentive Act (WIA) Program. They will participate in a Vocational Program,
which will provide several classes to include filling out job applications,
learning employer’s expectations, developing a resume, job interviewing,
money management and computer skills. Also, WorkLink is a resource in
providing information for job openings in the community.
The client will be responsible for structuring their personal appointments
around the Vocational Program schedule to address their case management
needs, visits with family and/or participate in a Twelve-Step Group.
It is possible that clients will become employed/enrolled in school or
training while in the TRT program and the schedule will remain flexible
in order for them to work and receive optimal substance abuse treatment
by attending individual, group and/or family sessions, which will be provided
around their work schedules.
The program will provide 15-20 hours of substance abuse treatment, which
will focus on relapse prevention, family reunification, feelings, coping
skills, anger management, life management, and other cognitive behavioral
based interventions. Additionally, groups will be facilitated to address
reintegration issues, which the client may experience during the day.
Family visitations and subsequent family therapy sessions will be highly encouraged
for those clients with families.
As part of the TRT continuum, a weekly staffing will occur on each and every
client in order to properly assess their progress and continuation in the program.
In promoting a healthy balance for clients facing the challenges of recovery
and employment, a recreational program is available during the weekends during
which the clients will utilize equipment at the YMCA, participate in arts and
crafts sessions, and develop hobbies which they will be able to continue once
they return to the community.
