Women’s Residential Unit


Designed for women experiencing substance abuse and co-occurring issues that may create problems for them physically, socially, and legally, which in many instances may affect their family structure.

Women with Children

This program focuses on women with dependent (minor) children, who either live with them, or are temporarily living somewhere else. The primary focus is to assist women to achieve self-sufficiency in a supportive, substance-free setting. Outpatient, intensive outpatient, and residential services are offered, including individual, family, and group sessions, and case management referral information. Women are encouraged to involve their children in treatment in order to improve parenting skills, and strengthen recovery efforts.

Programs include:
Women's Residential Unit (WRU) is offered in Pueblo. Community-based living provides a positive environment where effective life skills are emphasized.  Both IRT and TRT programs are available (see below).

Intensive Residential Treatment (IRT) is a residential treatment program offered in Pueblo. This program is designed to meet the needs of male substance abusers. The IRT Program is for the individual who has had other failed treatment episodes in less restrictive treatment environments.

Transitional Residential Treatment (TRT) is an intermediate residential treatment program offered in Pueblo. This program focuses on relapse prevention while trying to integrate the individual back into society. The TRT Program is designed for the individual who has had previous intensive treatment and needs the structure of a controlled environment.  Click here for more information on TRT.

Special Connections is a program that addresses issues surrounding substance abuse and pregnancy. This program offers support for both pregnant and postpartum women. For more information on Special Connections click here.

SWS (Specialized Women's Services) is offered in Pueblo. SWS is an outpatient program that offers a variety of treatment needs for women with or without dependent children who have substance abuse/use problems.

Women without Children
This program offers support to substance-abusing women in either an outpatient, intensive outpatient, or residential setting. Inidividual, family, and group sessions are offered, as well as case management referral information. The sessions focus on women-specific issues related to recovery from substance abuse.

Pregnant Women

Supportive outpatient, intensive outpatient, and residential programs are offered to substance-abusing pregnant women, and to pregnant women who fear relapse. The program sessions focus on issues specifically related to pregnant and post-partum women and are offered for up to 12 months post-partum (after the birth of the baby) in order to ensure the new mother has the support she may require. Intensive case management assessments are conducted on each client, and appropriate referral information is provided.

Men

CTP offers a continuum of care for men in both residential and outpatient settings. These programs include:
Outpatient treatment (Men's services): Services men in an outpatient setting, offering individual, family, and group sessions varying from 1 to 3 hours weekly. This is a 12-week program focusing on education of the addiction process, physiological effects of substances, recovery aspects, relapse prevention, coping skills enhancement, including anger management, life skills enhancement, men-specific issues of recovery, family issues, and parenting and communication skills enhancement. 

Intensive Outpatient treatment (Men's services): Services men in an outpatient setting, offering individual, family, and group sessions varying from 9 to 16 hours weekly. This is a 4-to-6 week program focusing on education of the addiction process, physiological effects of substance abuse, recovery aspects, relapse prevention, coping skills enhancement, including anger management, life skills enhancement, men-specific issues in recovery, family issues, parenting and communication skills enhancement. 

Intensive Residential Treatment (IRT) is a residential treatment program offered in Pueblo. This program is designed to meet the needs of male substance abusers. The IRT Program is for the individual who has had other failed treatment episodes in less restrictive treatment environments.

Teens (Youth)
CTP offers a continuum of care for teens (adolescents) in outpatient settings. These programs include:

Adolescent Outpatient treatment: This program services teens in an outpatient setting, ranging from 1 to 3 hours weekly for a minimum of 12 weeks. It includes individual, family, and group sessions. The sessions focus on teen-specific substance use issues, including the following: education of the addiction process, physiological effects of substance abuse, refusal skills development and enhancement, relapse prevention, recovery aspects, family issues, communication skills development and enhancement, coping skills enhancement, life skills training, and case management referral information in the employment, medical, mental health, and educational areas.
Adolescent Intensive Outpatient treatment: This program services teens in an outpatient setting, with sessions ranging from 9 to 16 hours weekly, for 4 to 6 weeks. The sessions focus on the following teen-specific issues: education of the addiction process, physiological effects of substance abuse, refusal skills development and enhancement, relapse prevention, recovery aspects, family issues, communication skills development and enhancement, coping skills enhancement, life skills training, and case management referral information in the employment, medical, mental health, and educational areas. This can be considered aftercare for a teen who has just been released from a residential program.

Don't Even Go There is a program that is currently operating in Alamosa and Trinidad. This adolescent program is designed to meet a wide array of adolescent substance abuse/use needs. The program offers day treatment, intensive outpatient treatment, after school programs, and aftercare programs.

Juvenile Court Project (JCP) is offered in Pueblo County and was specifically designed with the municipal court system for adolescent substance abuse/use offenders.

Methadone

The Methadone Maintenance Treatment is an outpatient program. Methadone Maintenance assists individuals addicted to opiates. The Methadone Maintenance treatment provides individual, group and family counseling, to assist individuals to lead a stable, productive life, free of abusing prescription medications and/or illicit substances.

Offenders

STIRRT (Short-Term Intensive Residential Remediation Treatment) is a comprehensive continuum of care that includes Residential Treatment, Enhanced Outpatient Treatment, Outpatient Treatment, and Transitional Housing, with ongoing Case Management as indicated.  STIRRT Programs are provided for both men and women at our Pueblo locations.
STIRRT is a community based program that offers a multi-level of care approach to treatment for individuals who have failed to maintain abstinence while on probation or parole. (MALE and FEMALE Programs available)
  • Referrals are accepted from Community Corrections, Parole, Probation, TASC, and the Courts
  • 14-day Intensive Residential Treatment (can be extended to 3 or 4 weeks based on need)
  • Case Management Services
  • Continuing Care Component - continuing care programming consists of offender specific groups for up to eight (8) months.
  • Outpatient Care - Weekly groups provided for 19+ weeks, length determined by need
SSC (Strategies for Self-Improvement and Change) is an offender-specific outpatient program targeted for individuals referred by the criminal justice system.  UA and Antabuse monitoring available through UA lab.

STAR = Sisterhood Teaching Alternatives for Recovery - TC (Therapeutic Community) Crossroads’ Turning Points, Inc. (CTP) is equipped with a 24-bed women’s therapeutic community that offers a short-term (approximately 4 1/2 months) addiction treatment program. For more information on STAR-TC click here.

DUI

DUI Programs are offered in Alamosa, Pueblo, Trinidad, Walsenburg, and the respective outlying communities within these locations. We offer DUI Level I and Level II education and therapy groups.
